Hi, I’m Simone. I write and help others write too.

I write screenplays and children’s fiction, and am available for publishing and marketing freelance work, as well as opportunities for schools – see services page.

I recently completed Literature Wales’ Representing Wales 2022-23 programme, with award-winning author Patrice Lawrence as my mentor.

Upcoming projects include Lights, Camera, Caerphilly with Third Time Lucky Productions, funded by Caerphilly Arts Development.

Children’s Fiction

I’ve completed the Story Foundations Course with Golden Egg Academy, and am a member of the Society of Authors. I’m currently working on a middle-grade novel, and write chapter books for Serial Mash, an online library for schools.

Word vomit about me…

I was born in Hampshire but grew up in rural Cumbria. Had an ‘It was the best of times, it was the worst of times’ childhood (see Kayleigh Llewellyn’s In My Skin for a flavour). Spent a year in the 90s living in a cult (yes, I’m writing a screenplay about THAT!) and have lived in South East Wales for the past two decades. I trained as a primary school teacher because a careers advisor told me to forget all my creative notions and have a respectable job. Since 2015, I’ve worked in children’s publishing and regional arts administration. I’m a Welsh learner, but still working on my pronunciation of y llyfr yn y llyfrgell (the book in the library). To me, good writing is a rollercoaster. I want to consume writing that makes me laugh and cry (plus all the emotions in-between) and that’s my aim with my own writing too. Oh, and neurodivergency is my superpower … and what I blame for my house being a mess!
